Chemka Hot Springs Day Trip (Kikuletwa)

Chemka Hot Springs (also known as Kikuletwa) are a number of small lakes filled with warm, crystal-clear waters. The Springs are created by geothermally heated groundwater. Chemka is located in the village of Rundugai. This small village lies between Arusha and Moshi, close to the town of Boma Ng’ombe (drive time from Arusha is 2.5hrs).

Chemka Hot Springs are perfect for swimming and there is a rope swing for the more adventurous. You may also experience a free fish pedicure (small fish nibbling at your feet)! The Springs are surrounded by lush green forest including ancient fig trees, the symphony of bird song and the occasional call of monkeys. The waters can reach up to 10m deep in places, so non-swimmers should exercise caution.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha in the early morning and you will drive to the Springs. Once you leave the main Arusha Moshi road, you travel on a winding rough road that provides a window into the lives of local Tanzanians. Upon arrival, the next few hours are yours to enjoy as you wish. Swimming, sun-bathing, reading or just soaking up the unique atmosphere and environment. A picnic lunch is provided and can be enjoyed under the shade of the trees by the side of the Springs at your leisure.

After a therapeutic day at the Springs, you will return with your Lion King Guide to your hotel in Arusha in time for dinner.
